ANALOG FILM 1
The good friends over at Köster und Lumma gave me a Hasselblad 202fa with my first black and white film to shoot some stuff. Click here to see the rest of the photos.
DEAD PREZ
I first shot Dead Prez in 2010 when they were touring in Hamburg, Germany. In early 2013 they came back to Germany and I handed them the old photos (read here). From that moment on we became friends and every time they make it overseas or we happen to be in the same city we meet up. This video was recorded summer 2013 in Brooklyn, New York right before they head to the airport for a week in Senegal.
SNAPSHOTS: RUCKER PARK
Some snapshots I took at the legendary Rucker Park up on 155th Street in Harlem. I went with T. Parris and we ran into the homies C.L. Smooth, Pete Rock, Lord Nez, J.R. Smith, and others.
Jay Z – Magna Carta Holy Grail is out now!
RAY LYNCH
I met Ray Lynch in 2004 for the first time, we helped each other in numerous occasions and he’s been a supporter since the first day I came to New York. Ray is known to manage and discover artists, songwriters and producers for the last 15 years. One of his discoveries is Grammy-award winning American songwriter, record producer and musician Syience.
After a long time of not seeing each other, we connected again in 2013, and Ray took the time to spend some words about how I got to New York, the start and the future.
R. Kelly
R. Kelly sold over 38.5 million albums in the U.S. and over 54 million albums worldwide, which makes him to the most successful R&B artist of the last 25 years. Last year in 2012, thanks to Devin DeHaven, I got the chance to spent a couple of days with him. At the second day I shot two photos of him. The photos are now online on my main page. Click the photo to see the other one. Post production was done by Malte Frank. Thanks to Armando Contreras for assisting me.
CAPE TOWN
At the end of last year, thanks to Köster & Lumma, I had the chance to travel to Cape Town, South Africa. The trip was 5 weeks, and I basically worked every day, except 4 or 5 off days. One night I went out to a club (I forgot the name of it but I want to say it was club Trinity) and it was a showcase with local artists. Amazed from the show and the quality those artist had I approached one artist called Uno July. I went to the club myself and it felt like I left with 20 new friends. Due to the common interest in music and our love and knowledge to hip hop we became friends pretty fast. He basically introduced me to everybody, and after the 5 weeks I had a big good-bye dinner with over 40 people. At this point I want to thank Uno & Jimmy Flexx (that built the duo Ill Skillz), Scoop aka. Siyabonga Ngwekazi, Roxanne & Fatima, Zaid Osman, Eric Lau, Petite Noir, the RealGibberish, Anelisa Mangcu, Angelyn Hsu, and all the others that made this trip a lifetime experience, I will be back.
Here are some snapshots.
MILES x MOJO II
He got his gear a couple days ago, so I took some photos for them yesterday.
HABESHA
In 2011 I went to Ethiopia to meet the parents of my girlfriend and the future grandparents of my son. I stayed for a short while and also took a lot of photos. I have never published them so with the new website I thought I take the time and touch them up a little and put them out. I called it Habesha, it’s a term Ethiopians use to refer to themselves.
